The Northern Ireland Music Industry Commission was established in 2001 with a remit to provide strategy and services towards accelerating the development of a sustainable music industry in Northern Ireland.
NIMIC’s key current strategic areas of delivery are:
NIMIC’s Business Skills Development Programme – ‘Music – It’s The Business’ is designed to substantially increase the capability of Northern Ireland musicians and music business practitioners to develop and maintain sustainable careers.
The programme provides expert advice and guidance on a wide variety of business and sector specific skills and is designed to benefit those at all levels of career development and from all regionally represented musical genres.
The programme is delivered in partnership with a range of industry professionals and key organisations including PRS, MCPS, AIM, BPI, MMF, UKTI, PPL, MPA and Music Tank.
NIMIC’s Creative Skills Development Programme is designed to increase the creative competitiveness of Northern Ireland artists and musicians.
The programme provides expert advice and guidance on a wide variety of sector specific creative skills and is designed to benefit those at all levels of career development and from all regionally represented musical genres.
The programme is delivered in partnership with a range of industry professionals and key industry organisations including the Music Producer’s Guild and the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters.
The organisation works towards developing audiences and markets for Northern Ireland music and contemporary musical artists and towards maximising media and music industry exposure for Northern Ireland musicians and their work and products, at a local, national and international level.
